Event Information

The Medical Research Council (MRC) Centre for Medical Mycology (CMM) is relocating to the University of Exeter, from 2 September 2019.

You are invited to join a special event hosted by the Vice-Chancellor and Chief Executive, Professor Sir Steve Smith, to welcome new colleagues, find out more about the MRC CMM and network with staff.

The MRC CMM will add to our existing expertise to create one of the largest groups of mycology experts in the world. This area of research is of urgent medical need, with more than 1.5 million deaths worldwide each year caused by fungal infections.

The relocation of the MRC CMM to the University of Exeter will bring together researchers from the fields of living systems, life sciences and medicine to identify new ways to diagnose, prevent and treat fungal diseases.

The Centre is part of the College of Life and Environmental Sciences and College of Medicine and Health and is based in the Geoffrey Pope building alongside our existing fungal mycology groups.

This event is to welcome the new MRC CMM staff and celebrate the hard work from our staff that has enabled this to happen.
